UN chief resigns, saying: ‘We failed in Gaza’
Craig Mokhiber, director of the New York Office of the United Nations (UN) High Commissioner for Human Rights, stated in his letter to High Commissioner Volker Turk that what happened in Gaza was a genocide and that the UN had failed.
Emphasizing that he will step down from his position, Mokhiber stated that the organization could not prevent Israel’s attacks on Gaza and that they failed, and called what happened in Gaza “genocide.”
“Once again we see a genocide before our eyes, and the UN we serve seems powerless to stop it,” Mokhiber said. “This is a case of genocide that should be taught in textbooks,” he said, accusing the United States, England and Western countries of supporting this genocide. (DHA)
