In his speech at the high-level session between Israel and Palestine held at the UN Security Council, UN Secretary-General Guterres used the following statements, which provoked a reaction from Cohen:

On the other hand, Eli Cohen demanded that the Red Cross and Qatar intervene to free Israelis held captive by Hamas in Gaza.

Speaking at a high-level Israeli-Palestinian session at the United Nations Security Council in New York, Cohen said: “We demand that the International Committee of the Red Cross immediately access all hostages for their unconditional release.”

Arguing that Qatar “finances and harbors Hamas leaders” and that this country can guarantee the release of the hostages, Cohen said: “You, members of the international community, should demand that Qatar do this.” (AA)
