He announced ‘Free Palestine’ and was suspended from office
The London Public Transport Authority (TfL) has identified the subway driver who was carrying the protesters who attended the Palestinian solidarity demonstration.
TfL chief operating officer Glynn Barton said the driver was using a train on the tube system’s Central line, and claimed the driver in question was abusing the announcement system.
Speaking about the investigation into the driver who made passengers chant “Free Palestine”, Barton said: “The driver has been suspended from service while we continue to fully investigate the incident in accordance with our policies and procedures.”
British Transport Police and TfL announced that they had launched an investigation after images of the driver who made passengers chant slogans at the demonstration in support of Palestine on October 21 were shared on social media.
“DON’T MISS YOUR PRAYERS”
After chanting the slogan, the engineer said: “I hope everyone has a good day today. Take care of yourself. His words, “Keep all these people in your prayers,” were also reflected in the images.
The identity of the train driver and the details of the investigation against him have not yet been revealed. (AA)
