Israeli press: There is a crisis between Netanyahu and the army
Israeli media reported that there was a crisis of confidence between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Israeli military, making joint decision-making in the Gaza war difficult.
The Yediot Ahronot newspaper, in its news based on Israeli political and military officials, wrote that as the ground operation in Gaza approaches, there is a stalemate regarding Israeli prisoners held by Hamas and that “the government is having difficulties to reach agreement on basic issues.”
The news story said: “Netanyahu is said to believe that responsibility for everything that is happening (the Hamas attacks on Israel, which began on October 7) lies with senior officers in the Israeli army and that he is angry with them.”
The news said that Israel “does not have an effective administration” and the following conclusions were shared:
“This (crisis) makes it difficult to focus on the fight and make decisions. Israel now needs effective leadership focused on its mission. According to statements by political and military officials, the government has difficulties making decisions that lead to a consensus on the main issues on the agenda.
In its news yesterday, the Haaretz newspaper said: “Netanyahu is trying to escape the responsibility of failing to predict the Hamas attack on October 7 and putting this responsibility on the army.” Criticisms were included. (AA)
