Panic in the Middle East in Washington… Attacks against US soldiers in Iraq and Syria increase
It was stated that the United States is very concerned about the escalation of the war in the Middle East and the safety of its soldiers and citizens stationed in the region.
Speaking to the British news agency Reuters, senior American diplomatic and defense sources said that the United States is concerned about the increase in attacks against its soldiers in the Middle East.
USA SENDS NEW PATRIOTS
It is noteworthy that attacks on bases where US forces are located in Iraq and Syria have begun to increase in recent days following Israel’s attacks on Gaza. US forces in the region were reported to be on alert for further attacks.
The Pentagon announced that the THAAD air defense system and the new Patriot air defense missile system will be sent to the Middle East.
The US State Department also warned its citizens yesterday not to travel to Iraq.
‘IRAN MAY INTENSIFY CONFLICTS’
US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said: “We are concerned about the increase in violence. Indeed, we see the potential for a significant increase in attacks against our troops and people in the region. If any group or country wants to expand this conflict, our advice is: don’t do it,” he sent a message to Iran.
According to Reuters, the United States is trying to deter attacks by forces affiliated with Iran. Following the outbreak of the Israeli-Palestinian war, Washington deployed two aircraft carriers, support ships and approximately 2,000 troops to the Middle East.
Last week, the United States shot down missiles fired by the Iranian-backed Houthis at Israel in Yemen, raising concerns about a major war in the region that would include the United States. American experts emphasize that if Lebanese Hezbollah and Iranian-backed forces are involved in the war, the United States may enter the war to support Israel, and that this carries great risks.
The United States has 2,500 troops in Iraq and 900 in Syria.
