Striking claim: the pressure of the ‘ground operation’ on Israel by the US and Europe

The Israeli press wrote that the United States and some European countries, which gave great support to Tel Aviv against the Hamas organization, pressured the Tel Aviv administration to delay the possible ground operation against the blockaded Gaza Strip.

Speaking to the Times of Israel, an unnamed senior official made assessments about Israel’s possible ground attack on Gaza.

‘COULD DISRUPT HOSTAGE NEGOTIATIONS’

Referring to the release of two American citizens by Hamas’s armed wing, the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, last night through Qatar, the official said the United States and some European countries were quietly pressuring Israel to postpone the launch of a ground operation in Gaza, and that this attack could lead to additional attacks in the foreseeable future, and said he feared it would disrupt efforts to free the hostages.

Yesterday, the Qassam Brigades announced that they released the American mother and daughter held captive in Gaza for humanitarian reasons in response to Qatari efforts.

The Israeli administration claims there are around 200 prisoners held by Palestinian groups in Gaza. (AA)
