Death toll rises in attack on Israeli church
The Gaza government’s press office made a statement on the issue. The statement states that the death toll as a result of Israel’s direct attack on the Greek Orthodox Church yesterday reached 20 people, 18 of whom were Christians.
The Gaza Interior Ministry announced last night that Israel attacked the Greek Orthodox Church in Gaza, and the Health Ministry announced that 16 people lost their lives as a result of the attack.
IRAN’S REACTION
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nasser Kenani, in his written statement, stated that Israel added a new one to the war crimes it committed in Gaza with the attack on the Greek Orthodox Church in Gaza.
Stating that Israel’s attacks on hospitals, mosques and churches “demonstrate that it does not adhere to any human, moral or religious principles and values,” Kenani said:
“It is an international responsibility to document these terrible crimes, bring them before competent international tribunals and punish Zionist criminals and their supporters.”
ISRAEL-HAMAS CONFLICT
Hamas’s armed wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, launched a comprehensive attack against Israel on the morning of October 7, dubbed the “Aqsa Flood.”
As thousands of rockets were fired from Gaza into Israel, Palestinian armed groups attacked and seized the Beit Hanun-Erez border gate on the Gaza-Israel border.
Armed groups then entered settlements inside Israel from here and the Israeli army launched an attack on the Gaza Strip with dozens of fighter jets.
It was reported that 1,400 Israelis, including 306 soldiers, were killed and 4,834 Israelis were wounded in the attacks carried out from Gaza.
The Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza announced that 4,137 people, including 1,524 children, were killed and more than 13,000 injured in Israel’s attacks on Gaza.
It was claimed that 81 Palestinians were killed in attacks by Israeli forces and Jewish settlers in the occupied West Bank. 13 journalists lost their lives in Israeli attacks. (AA)
