Press censorship from Israel: the famous television channel will be closed
The Israeli government has approved emergency rules allowing the closure of the Qatar-based Al Jazeera television office in Israel.
Israeli state television KAN news reported that the government approved regulations allowing the closure of television channels that “present a threat to state security.” According to the decision, it was stated that it was possible to close Al Jazeera’s offices in Israel and confiscate its equipment.
News reports reported that Israeli officials argued that Al Jazeera broadcasts endangered Israeli soldiers and citizens.
Al Jazeera television did not make any statement about the Israeli government’s decision.
It was announced that the closure of Al Jazeera’s Qatar-based Israel offices was supported by the Israeli Foreign Intelligence Agency Mossad, Israeli Communications Minister Shlomo Karhi, Defense Minister Yoav Galant and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. (AA)
