Biden’s full support for Israel created a crisis in the US administration… Anti-war voices are rising
It turned out that the US Israel-Palestine policy also caused a crisis within the US administration.
Speaking to the Huffington Post, State Department officials said the U.S. policy of full support for Israel created disagreements within the institution. It was noted that some Foreign Office employees were preparing to voice their objections to Biden’s policy, that staff morale was very low, and that some of them were considering resigning.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken and other top officials are closely monitoring the growing unrest within the agency, the sources said. According to the news, ministry employees, especially those working as experts, are concerned about the fact that their opinions are not taken into account and about the US administration’s support for Israel, which plans to increase attacks on Gaza.
OFFICIAL RESIGNS: MANY OF MY COLLEAGUES SUPPORTED ME
Speaking to the Huffington Post, a Foreign Ministry official noted that the crisis in the ministry continues at all levels and that some diplomats will share their objections through official means.
Josh Paul, director general of the US State Department’s “arms supply to allies and partners” unit, announced his resignation this week, saying he could no longer support the US administration’s pro-Israel stance. In the letter he posted on LinkedIn, Paul claimed that the transfer of lethal weapons from the United States to Israel exceeded his limits and said: “We cannot be against the occupation and support the occupation at the same time.”
In his statement to the Huffington Post, Paul claimed that many of his colleagues reached out to him after his resignation and told him they thought the same thing.
IT ALSO HAPPENED DURING THE VIETNAM WAR
The newspaper wrote that official objections within the Foreign Office had previously been used in processes that caused crises within the United States, such as the Vietnam War, and that officials could criticize dangerous US decisions in this way.
In response to the newspaper’s request for clarification, Matthew Miller, one of the ministry’s spokespersons, argued that they encouraged different ideas within the institution and that Minister Blinken took opposing ideas into consideration.
Foreign Affairs sources emphasized that US support for Israel provoked a huge reaction from Arab diplomats and could lead to the US losing its support in the region.
