Biden support visit to Israel
Just hours after the attack on the Gaza hospital that shocked the world, US President Joe Biden traveled to Tel Aviv this morning as part of his support visit to Israel.
Landing at Ben Gurion Airport under intense security, Biden hugged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Israeli President Isaac Herzog.
Israeli Presidency: “Welcome, Mr. President. “May God bless you for protecting the State of Israel,” he said. The US administration provided extensive support to Israel after Hamas’ bloody attack on Israeli territory on October 7 and sent an aircraft carrier to the eastern Mediterranean.
‘THE COURAGE OF THE PEOPLE OF ISRAEL IS IMPRESSIVE’
In his press conference with Netanyahu, Biden supported Israel’s thesis, saying that “in his opinion, the attack on the hospital in Gaza was organized by the ‘other side.'” Noting that the United States will ensure that Israel has everything it needs to defend itself, the American president said: “The courage of the Israeli people is stunning.”
Biden said Hamas, which killed more than 1,300 Israelis in recent attacks, was “worse than ISIS.”
Netanyahu also thanked Biden for the United States’ open support.
3 COUNTRIES CANCELED THE SUMMIT WITH OFFER
Following the hospital attack, Jordan canceled the planned summit between US President Biden, Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. Abbas also announced that he would not meet with Biden.
Biden’s visit to Israel and countries in the region will reduce tensions in Gaza
He was expected to support efforts to deliver humanitarian aid to the Strip, but yesterday’s hospital attack suddenly changed the agenda.
WHITE HOUSE: BIDEN WILL ASK ISRAEL DIFFICULT QUESTIONS
The White House stated that Biden will ask “tough questions” of Israeli leaders during his visit to Tel Aviv, “as a true friend.”
According to the White House statement, Biden will meet with Israeli President Herzog, Prime Minister Netanyahu and Israel’s war cabinet as part of his visit to Tel Aviv. The Strategic Communications Coordinator of the White House National Security Council, John Kirby, announced that during Biden’s visit, “as a true friend of Israel”, he will receive information about the situation in the region and will hold discussions about the objectives and plans futures of Israel.
Noting that Biden will emphasize that they do not want existing tension to escalate, Kirby stated that they want to prevent any actor from escalating tension, “regardless of the nation or terrorist group.” (AA)
