EU leaders meet on Israeli-Palestinian crisis

In his statement on X, EU Council President Charles Michel announced that the extraordinary meeting had begun.

Michel stated that at the beginning of the meeting a minute of silence was observed for the civilians who lost their lives in Israel and Palestine and for the “victims of the recent attacks in Europe.”

Two Swedish citizens lost their lives in an attack last night in Brussels, the capital of the EU.

ISRAEL-HAMAS CONFLICT

Hamas’s armed wing, the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, launched a comprehensive attack against Israel on the morning of October 7, called the “Aqsa Flood.”

As thousands of rockets were fired from Gaza into Israel, Palestinian armed groups attacked the Beit Hanun-Erez border gate on the Gaza-Israel border and took it.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced that 3,000 people were killed and 12,500 injured in Gaza due to Israeli attacks.

It was claimed that 61 Palestinians were killed and approximately 1,250 people were injured in attacks by Israeli forces and Jewish settlers in the occupied West Bank.

13 journalists also lost their lives in Israeli attacks.

In the clashes that began between the Israeli army and Hezbollah on the Lebanese border on October 8, 8 Hezbollah, 2 members of Islamic Jihad, 1 journalist and 2 civilians lost their lives.

In the attacks carried out by Lebanon, 2 Israeli soldiers and 1 Israeli civilian lost their lives.
