The opposition wins the elections in Poland
According to the “instant election poll” announced after the polls closed in the general elections held in Poland, the voting rate of the ruling Law and Justice Party (PIS) remained at 36.8 percent. At this rate, the PİS cannot obtain a majority in parliament.
According to survey results that Ipsos shared with Polish broadcasters, PİS can win 200 of the 460 seats in the Sejm, the lower house of the bicameral parliament.
The voting rate of the main opposition bloc, the Civil Coalition (KO), led by former Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, was determined at 31.6 percent. The Third Way Alliance’s vote rate was announced as 13 percent, and the New Left’s vote rate was announced as 8.6 percent.
The Confederation Party, which in polls taken before the election was expected to get around 9 percent of the vote, only got 6.2 percent of the vote. Consequently, the number of seats for the main opposition party, KO, is expected to be 163, the Third Way 55 and the New Left 30. If three parties form a coalition, the number of seats is calculated in 243.

The voter turnout rate was estimated at 72.9 percent.
According to Polish media, if the Civil Coalition led by Tusk, the Third Way and the New Left unite, this coalition could obtain a majority with 248 seats in parliament.
According to the Polish news agency PAP, if the poll is confirmed by the official results of the October 17 elections, the PIS will be the largest party in parliament, but it will not win the 231 seats needed to form a majority.
According to the PAP, the four-question referendum that the PIS decided to hold simultaneously with the general election will probably be considered invalid, as the participation rate was less than 50 percent, with only 40 percent of participants voting in favor of the referendum.
