Biden’s critical contacts while waiting for ground operation

Biden met with Netanyahu and Abbas

US President Joe Biden held two important meetings during the hours in which Israel’s ground operation against Gaza was expected.

According to information provided by a US official to Reuters, Biden spoke by phone with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and Palestinian President Abbas.

According to the statement from his office, Netanyahu told Biden that unity and determination are needed in the war against Hamas. It was stated that the Israeli Prime Minister “thanked Biden for his support.”

According to the statement made by Abbas’ office, the Palestinian leader told Biden that he was “completely against those in Gaza leaving the region.”

Since the first minutes of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict that began on October 7, Biden has frequently expressed his support for Israel.

WHITE HOUSE STATEMENT

The White House statement stated that Biden reiterated his support for Israel in his meeting with Netanyahu.

It was also noted that Biden spoke with Netanyahu “about coordinating with the United Nations and countries like Egypt and Jordan to provide water, food and medical access to innocent civilians.”

It was stated that Biden “supports all efforts to protect civilians.”

Israel is expected to launch a ground operation in Gaza in the worsening conflicts following attacks launched by Hamas. It is claimed that 2 million civilians are trapped in the region. (REUTERS)
