Lebanon will complain to the UN Security Council over Israel’s shooting of the journalist
The Lebanese Foreign Ministry will take the issue of Israel’s “deliberate killing” of journalist Issam Abdullah to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).
The statement published by the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding Reuters cameraman Issam Abdullah, who died yesterday as a result of a rocket launched by Israel on the Lebanese border, was shared by the official NNA news agency. The statement stated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had ordered the Permanent Representative to the United Nations to file a complaint with the United Nations Security Council against Israel for the “deliberate murder” of Abdullah, and noted:
“The easy murder of unarmed journalists who were victims of their desire to try to announce the truth with their cameras, lenses and pens; “It is an attack on freedom of expression, of the press, on human rights, on international human law and a crime.”
The Lebanese army also made a written statement on the conclusions of the preliminary investigation carried out at the scene of the murder of journalist Abdullah. The statement states that the rocket launched by the Israeli army towards the Alma Shaab region hit a car in which journalists were traveling.
It was recalled that 1 journalist died and 5 journalists were injured in the attack.
CANNON FIRE FROM LEBANON TOWARDS ISRAEL
When some Israeli military points on the border came under attack from southern Lebanon, Israel responded with artillery fire.
An attack was carried out with an old missile from the Lebanese city of Kefr Shuba towards some Israeli observation points on the border. The Israeli army statement states that “many shots were fired” from Lebanon towards the Kerf Shuba region.
The statement, which does not provide information on whether the attacks were carried out with rockets or mortars, states that “Israeli army soldiers are currently attacking the location where the shots were fired.” (AA)
