Putin’s statement on Gaza: it will have very serious consequences
Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that Israel’s ground operation in Gaza would have serious consequences for all parties.
Putin made statements about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in his speech at the summit of leaders of the member countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) held in Bishkek, capital of Kyrgyzstan.
‘RESULT OF US POLICY FAILURE’
Noting that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has escalated in an unprecedented manner and that thousands of civilians have been killed and injured on both sides, Putin said that the large-scale tragedy that Israelis and Palestinians are currently experiencing is “a result directly from the United States’ unsuccessful policies in the Middle East.
Putin stated that the United States, together with its European partners, is trying to monopolize the solution to the Middle East issue, is not interested in finding compromises acceptable to both sides and certainly never takes into account the fundamental interests of the Palestinian people.
Emphasizing that the main issue now is to stop the bloodshed, Putin said: “We start from the belief that there is no alternative but to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict through negotiations. “The goal should be the implementation of the United Nations two-state formula, which provides for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with peace and security in Israel, with East Jerusalem as its capital,” he said.
