Knife attack in France: there are dead and injured
The knife attack that took place at a school in the city of Arras, in northern France, caused widespread panic.
According to BFM TV, a supposedly Chechen person attacked the teachers shouting “Allahu Akbar.” A French teacher whose throat was slit died and some people were injured in the incident.
The attacker, in his 20s, was arrested at the scene. During the incident, students were warned not to leave the classrooms.
Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin announced that police had launched a terrorism investigation. It was announced that French President Emmanuel Macron would also travel to the city following the incident.
CLAIM OF ‘ISRAEL-PALESTINE WAR’
Some news spread on social media claimed that the incident was related to the war that broke out between Israel and Palestine, and that the attack took place after Hamas’ call for jihad.
French police said there were no signs the attack was related to the war in the Middle East.
Some time ago, Macron ordered increased security around religious centers and places where Jews frequented the country.
