NATO to carry out nuclear exercises
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said in his statement on the issue: “Russia’s war against Ukraine is a reminder of the important role that NATO nuclear weapons play in deterring aggression.” he said.
Stoltenberg stated that next week the routine exercises that NATO carries out every October over Italy, Croatia and the Mediterranean will take place.
Stating that the exercise will ensure the reliability, effectiveness and security of NATO’s nuclear deterrent, Stoltenberg noted that the “Steadfast Noon” exercise will send a clear message that NATO will protect and defend all its allies.
Numerous fighter aircraft, surveillance aircraft and tanker aircraft, as well as B-52 long-range bombers, will participate in the exercise.
The “Steadfast Noon” exercise is organized each year by a different NATO country. (AA)
