Deputy who went to Russia was expelled from his party
The visit of Muneo Suzuki, one of the JIP deputies on the Advisory Council, to Russia last week and his meeting with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko provoked reactions.
Muneo, who was accused of exhibiting “undisciplined behavior” in the statement of the Ethics Committee within the party, was officially expelled from the party in accordance with the decision of the JIP Presidential Council.
The decision indicated that Muneo’s visit abroad without prior notice to the party and his controversial statements during this visit were effective.
Footage of the visit in the Russian press showed Muneo saying he was “one hundred percent sure that Russia will win in the attacks on Ukraine.”
The visit by Muneo, 75, was recorded as the first visit by a parliamentarian from Japan to Russia after the Russian-Ukrainian crisis that began in February 2022. (BRITISH AUTOMOBILE CLUB)
