Israeli warning to Assad: concerns grow over ‘new front in war’

While Israel was shocked by the bloody attack by Hamas, which controls Gaza, the tension that erupted on the border with Lebanon and Syria raised concerns that the war could spread to the region.

It was claimed that a rocket had been fired at Israel from southern Lebanon the previous day, and Israel responded with artillery fire. While the Israeli army claimed that the infiltration attempt from Lebanon had been prevented, Hezbollah, which defeated Israel in the 2006 war, announced that three of its fighters had been killed but that it was not responsible for the infiltration attempts. .

Following the Hamas attack, tensions are rapidly rising on the border between Israel and Lebanon.

Yesterday tensions increased on the Syrian border. The Israeli military reported that “a large number of artillery shells were fired from Syria into its territory, some of which landed in open areas in Israeli territory.” The army announced that it responded to artillery fire from Syria.

These events brought back to the agenda the possibility that a front against Israel could be opened from Lebanon and Syria, in addition to Gaza.

‘HE HAS GOOD RELATIONS WITH ISRAEL AND DAMASCUS’

The American press wrote that the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which has recently approached Damascus, sent a message to Syrian President Bashar Assad: “Do not intervene in the war between Hamas and Israel.”

According to a report by Axios, based on two diplomatic sources in the United Arab Emirates, the Gulf Arab country asked Assad not to allow attacks against Israel from Syria. The news also noted that the United Arab Emirates, which invited Assad to Abu Dhabi, is the Arab country that has the most influence in the Damascus administration and also has good relations with Israel.

It was claimed that the UAE administration also informed Joe Biden’s administration in the US about the negotiations with Syria.

Israel also announced that security measures have been increased at all borders.
