Pentagon: We are increasing our support for the defense of Israel

The US Department of Defense (Pentagon) stated that it increased its defense support to Israel due to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, including air defense systems and munitions.

A senior Pentagon official, who preferred to remain anonymous, gave reporters an assessment of the latest situation in Israel and Palestine.

Stating that the Biden administration is continuing its contact with Israel and trying to determine the most urgent needs, the official said: “First, we are increasing our support for Israel’s defense. “This includes air defense systems and ammunition,” he said.

The official noted that they are working to deliver Israel the ammunition it needs as soon as possible, and emphasized that planes are on the way with some of the materials requested by Israel.

THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE DIED

Hamas’s armed wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, launched a comprehensive attack against Israel on the morning of October 7, called the “Aqsa Flood.”

As thousands of rockets were fired from Gaza into Israel, Palestinian armed groups attacked and seized the Beit Hanun-Erez border gate on the Gaza-Israel border.

Armed groups then entered settlements inside Israel from here and the Israeli army launched an attack on the Gaza Strip with dozens of fighter jets.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced that the number of people who lost their lives in the attacks carried out by Israel in Gaza and the West Bank was 704, including 143 children and 105 women, and the number of injured exceeded 4,000.

Israeli forces had killed 18 Palestinians in Jerusalem and the occupied West Bank since October 7.

The statement issued by the Israeli Foreign Ministry states that at least 900 Israelis were killed and 2,616 people were injured, 157 of them seriously, in the attacks carried out from Gaza.
