Striking statement by Russia on Palestine-Israel

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that the Palestinian-Israeli conflict shows that the current status quo in the region is unsustainable.

Lavrov met in Moscow with the Secretary General of the Arab League, Ahmed Abu Ghait. At the beginning of the meeting, Lavrov stated that they would discuss all aspects of interaction between Russia and the Arab League, including ministerial meetings.

Stating that there has been an unprecedented sharp turn in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Lavrov said: “This turn has shown that: the current status quo in the conflict zone is absolutely unsustainable, it is necessary to make adjustments to our agenda. “It is necessary not only to urgently stop hostilities and resolve the problem of the large number of civilians who have been victims of the current situation, but also to pay special attention to the causes of the Palestinian problem, which has not been resolved for decades,” he said. .

Noting that Russia believes that it can contribute to solving these problems with the Arab League countries and, above all, to stopping the bloodshed and ending the suffering of civilians, Lavrov addressed the Arab League and all the other countries that are sincerely interested in establishing sustainable peace and security in the Middle East and stressed that they are willing to do so with other countries.

Arab League Secretary General Gayt said: “All these developments, although not with the same severity, will continue to occur due to the lack of expectations or political initiatives to resolve the Palestinian problem.” (AA)
