Call to Turks against the extreme right in Germany

Elections to the State Assembly are held on Sunday in the German state of Hessen. There are a total of 4.3 million voters in the state.

Of the 900,000 immigrants among voters, 400,000 are Turkish.

The latest polls show that the far-right party AfD (Alternative for Germany) has surpassed 16 percent. Voters of Turkish origin, from almost all social sectors and established parties, are asked to “go to the polls against the racists.”

MINISTER FAESER WILL MEET AGAIN

First, the Minister of the Interior, Nancy Faeser, of the SPD, and then the Minister of Economy of the state of Hesse, Tarik Al-Wazir, of the Greens, gave important messages in this direction and pointed to the ballot boxes against racism.

While Minister Faeser stated that it is worrying that the far right is so high for the first time since the Nazi period, on Saturday he will meet again with voters of Turkish origin.

The meeting will take place at the Turkish-German Health Foundation in Giessen. That the AfD, which reached first place in the former East German states, has received such a high number of votes in a state like Hesse worries all democratic sectors and public opinion.

RACISM HAS BECOME THE GENERAL CURRENT

The German Turkish Health Foundation, KUBI GmbH, ATİYAB-Hessen, the Turkish community of Hessen, which prepared a joint press release on behalf of the Turkish community, drew attention to the threat of the far right and called on the people to go to the polls on Sunday.

In the statement, “The fringe far-right in Germany has become mainstream, socially determining the center of current politics. “As we all continue to be concerned, in the last federal, state and municipal elections, as well as in public opinion polls, far-right parties reached 20 percent and are likely to even achieve much higher votes in some regions” .

PREVENTION IS A CORRESPONDING RESPONSIBILITY

In the statement: “In Germany, where we, as a Turkish society, have lived in peace for more than half a century, where we share a common destiny with our workforce, our work and the great contributions we have made in the field of art and culture, sports, science, industry and commerce, where our children are born, grow up and their future will be forged, the extreme right and “The task of preventing racist political groups from gaining political power is our common responsibility, especially those most affected by the racism and discrimination”, and stressed the importance of nearly 400,000 voters of Turkish origin going to the polls.
