US House Speaker McCarthy was removed from office.
Republican Matt Gaetz, a member of the US House of Representatives, filed a motion to impeach House Speaker Kevin McCarthy.
As a result of the vote, the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, Kevin McCarthy, was removed from office.
The proposal was accepted with 216 “yes” votes to 210 “no” votes. All eight Republicans voted “yes” to impeach McCarthy.
Republican Rep. Patrick McHenry was named acting speaker of the House of Representatives until a new speaker is elected.
After losing support within his own party, McCarthy became the first speaker of the House of Representatives in modern American history to be removed from office by votes of members of his own party.
CRITICISM OF TRUMP
Former US President Donald Trump criticized the conflict between Republicans in a statement he made on his social media platform TruthSocial before the vote.
Trump: “Why do Republicans always fight among themselves? Why don’t you fight the radical left democrats who are destroying our country? he said. (AA)
