Violation of the ceasefire in Karabakh: a Russian-Azerbaijani patrol opened fire

The Russian Defense Ministry announced that the ceasefire in Karabakh had been violated. The Ministry announced that an unidentified person opened fire with a sniper weapon on a joint Russian-Azerbaijani patrol in the city of Khankendi, and there was no loss of life.

Information about the situation in Karabakh was given in the statement from the Russian Ministry of Defense.

The statement noted that there was a violation of the ceasefire in the region and said: “An unidentified person opened fire on the joint Russian-Azerbaijani patrol in the city of Khankendi with a sniper weapon. “There was no loss of life,” he claimed.

The statement reported that an investigation into the issue was carried out together with the Russian Peace Forces, the Azerbaijani side and representatives of the Armenian population in Karabakh.

A violation of the ceasefire could lead to a new rise in tensions in the region.

WHAT HAPPENED IN KARABAK

The Azerbaijani army launched an anti-terrorist operation in Karabakh on September 19 with the aim of establishing constitutional order. The illegal Armenian armed forces in Karabakh laid down their weapons after an operation that lasted approximately 24 hours. The Armenian administration in the region announced that it had been dissolved. (AA)
