The UN announced the sad panorama: 4,255 people died, thousands are missing
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) published a new report on Libya, where the flood disaster occurred.
According to the report, in the first two weeks after the disaster more than 125,000 people could be reached thanks to the joint efforts of local authorities, the UN and other aid organizations.
40 THOUSAND PEOPLE WERE DISPLACED
250 thousand people were affected by the flood, 40 thousand people were displaced within the country and 4 thousand 255 people lost their lives.
THERE ARE MORE THAN 8 THOUSAND MISSING
Relief teams rescued 452 people, 8,540 people are still missing.
Humanitarian aid organizations supported efforts to soon reopen schools and repair and clean damaged areas.
Those affected by the disaster have greater access to clean water, psychological support and medications to treat chronic diseases.
“Storm Daniel”, which hit the central Mediterranean, caused flooding in the cities of Benghazi, Beyda, Merc, Suse and Derna in eastern Libya on September 10. (AA)
