Armenian commander arrested in Karabakh
It was reported that Major General Davit Manukyan, one of the commanders of the illegal armed forces affiliated with the so-called Armenian administration in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, was detained and taken to Baku and arrested by the court.
The statement by the Azerbaijan State Security Service states that Manukyan, an Armenian citizen and member of the Armenian army, was arrested in Karabakh. The statement noted that despite the provision on the “withdrawal of the Armenian army from the territory of Azerbaijan” in the tripartite declaration signed between Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia on November 10, 2020, it was determined that Manukyan remained in the region and He served as the so-called “First Deputy Commander of the Karabakh Defense Army.”
It was reported that Manukyan was also found to be involved in organizing terrorist acts such as disturbing public security, creating panic among the public, explosions and fires in Azerbaijan.
He was presented before the judge accused of “repeated terrorism by an organized group”, “illegal acquisition, storage and transportation of firearms, their components, ammunition, explosives and devices”, “formation of armed groups and units not provided for by law” and “illegal crossing of the border with Azerbaijan”, it was stated that Manukyan was arrested.
