Officially announced: Vardanyan was detained
Ruben Vardanyan, one of the former “state ministers” of the so-called Armenian administration in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, was detained.
In the statement of the State Border Service of Azerbaijan it was reported that Vardanyan was detained by border guards when he tried to cross from Azerbaijan to Armenia.
The statement states that Vardanyan was taken to Baku and handed over to the corresponding state institution.
Ruben Vardanyan, who lives in Russia and is a Russian citizen, applied to renounce Russian citizenship and arrived in Karabakh in September 2022 and served as a “state minister” in the so-called Armenian administration.

Vardanyan, who was deprived of citizenship by Russia, was later fired by the so-called Karabakh administration.
Vardanyan, who is said to have a criminal record including money laundering, illegal arms and drug trafficking, was making provocative statements against Azerbaijan on his social media accounts. (AA)
