The factory burned: there are many dead and injured
Five people died, five were missing and more than 100 were injured in a fire that broke out in a factory in Taiwan, which is in a sovereignty dispute with China.
According to the Taiwanese agency CNA, a fire broke out in a golf ball factory in Pingtung province, in the south of the island. While 5 people, including 1 firefighter, lost their lives in the fire, there is no news of 1 firefighter and 4 factory workers.
More than 100 people were injured in the fire.
While the cause of the fire was being investigated, natural gas explosions during firefighting efforts led to an increase in loss of life and injuries.
Taiwan’s leader Tsai Ing-wen, in her statement, expressed her condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the fire and said she would go to Pingtung and visit the victims. (AA)
