Marijuana cake disaster: 90 primary school students were poisoned
In the Republic of South Africa, 90 primary school students were hospitalized after being poisoned by the marijuana cake they ate.
Gauteng Provincial Education Department spokesperson Steve Mabona said in a statement that 90 students at Pulamadibogo Primary School in Soshanguve experienced symptoms of poisoning such as nausea, stomach pain and vomiting after eating pastries they bought from a street vendor.
Mabona said teachers called emergency services after witnessing strange behavior from students in the classroom.
Stating that the students were taken under surveillance at various hospitals, Mabona stated that the cakes the students ate were found to contain marijuana.
Mabona said the police identified the hawker and launched an investigation into the matter. (AA)
