In Ukraine, the Minister of Defense was dismissed and his deputies
Permanent Representative of the Council of Ministers of Ukraine in the Parliament of Ukraine Taras Melnichuk reported that 6 deputies of the Minister of Defense and the State Secretary of the Ministry of Defense were dismissed.
In his statement on his social media account, Melnichuk stated that at the Council of Ministers meeting a decision was made to dismiss 6 deputies of the Minister of Defense and the State Secretary of the Ministry of Defense. Melnichuk stated that according to the decision, Deputy Defense Ministers Volodimir Gavrilov, Rostislav Zamlinskiy, Anna Malyar, Denis Sharapov, Andrey Shevchenko, Vitaliy Deynega, as well as State Secretary of the Ministry of Defense Konstantin Vashchenko, were dismissed.
After Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy announced his decision to replace Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov earlier this month, Reznikov submitted his resignation petition to parliament on September 4, and parliament accepted his resignation.
The candidacy of Crimean Tatar Turk Rustem Umerov, proposed by Zelenskiy for the Ministry of Defense, was approved by Parliament on September 6. (AA)
