Alarm in Algeria: 18 different forest fires occurred in the country
Algeria is battling forest fires in many parts of the country. In the written statement from the Presidency of Civil Defense of Algeria: “Our teams continue to extinguish the remaining 18 fires in 11 cities in difficult weather conditions due to strong and hot southerly winds that increase the spread of fires.” It was said.
The statement indicated that 41 of the 59 forest fires that were recorded in 11 cities in the north and northeast of the country were extinguished.
Teams affiliated with the Presidency of Civil Defense managed to extinguish dozens of forest fires that broke out in many cities in northern Algeria since Friday, without causing any human loss.
On the other hand, in the images reflected on social networks it could be seen that traffic stopped and many vehicles were burned on the roads of the city of Bicaya, where some forest fires were recorded.
The Algerian gendarmerie command announced last night that a person was arrested on suspicion of having started a forest fire in the city of Bicaye. (AA)
