Surprising claim about missing Chinese defense minister
The claim based on different sources about the disappearance of Chinese Defense Minister Li Shangfu has become a hot topic.
10 sources related to the matter stated that the Chinese minister, who has not appeared in public for more than two weeks, is being investigated for alleged “corruption.” According to Reuters, Li is being held as part of a corruption investigation related to the shipment of military equipment.
An investigation was reportedly launched against Li, as well as eight senior Chinese military officials responsible for the shipment. It was noted that the investigation into Li and other senior figures who were appointed to the ministry in March was carried out by the army’s disciplinary board.
The American press reported that, according to intelligence services, Li was placed under house arrest last week. Li, who was last seen on August 29, visited Russia and Belarus in July. The minister’s visit to Vietnam this month was cancelled.
China’s Foreign Minister China Gang was also surprisingly ousted in July.
