The amount of aid that Morocco will provide to earthquake victims is announced
In his statement, King Mohammed VI of Morocco shared details of the aid that will be provided to those affected by the earthquake that occurred in the country last week.
The statement states that approximately 13,600 dollars will be paid to those whose houses were completely destroyed, while 80,000 dirhams (around 8,000 dollars) will be paid to those whose houses were partially destroyed and damaged.
While it was noted that 30 thousand dirhams (about 3 thousand dollars) will be paid to families affected by the earthquake, it was stated that approximately 50 thousand buildings were destroyed or damaged in the five regions where the earthquake was felt.
THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE LOST THEIR LIVES
In the 6.8 magnitude earthquake that occurred in the country on September 8, 2,946 people lost their lives and 5,674 were injured.
While the earthquake was recorded as the deadliest since 1960, it was also considered the strongest earthquake since 1900.
