Germany also did not recognize the elections in Karabakh.
The German Foreign Ministry announced that it does not recognize the independence of Karabakh and the “presidential elections” held on September 9.
In the ministry’s statement, “The German government does not recognize the independence of Karabakh and the elections held. “Germany, together with the European Union, is making efforts to permanently resolve the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan.”
The statement stated that the German government accepted the territorial integrity of Armenia and Azerbaijan within internationally recognized borders.
Illegal Armenian forces in Azerbaijan’s Karabakh region held a “presidential election” on September 9 in lands under their control. The Azerbaijani administration condemned the so-called elections as “an attack on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country.” (AA)
