It was difficult to get out, he wants to go back into the cave where he was trapped for days.
American mountaineer Mark Dickey, who fell ill in the Morca Cave in the Anamur district of Mersin on September 3 and was evacuated on September 12 after days of hard work, said he wanted to continue his exploration work after recovering your health.
Dickey, who descended into Morca Cave on September 3 for exploration and was pulled out on September 12 after suffering a stomach hemorrhage at a depth of approximately 1,276 meters, attended the press conference held at the Research Hospital and Training from the city of Mersin, where he continues his treatment. Mickey, who was treated in the intensive care unit, said: “I would love to enter Morca Cave again. “My goal is to return and complete the exploration I left unfinished,” he said.
Dickey stated that he feels the joy of being alive and said:
“The Turkish government’s support started long before people started following me. I thank you for her quick and decisive action that saved my life and delivered necessary medical supplies to my fiancée Jessica and allowed her to make the difficult 1000 meter return journey. Morca is not the first salvation of my life. He was one of the 3 survivors, but I was there. Not only Türkiye but everyone followed me. This is something incredible. The joint work carried out with the contribution of the European Cave Rescue Association and Turkish government institutions played an important role in my final rescue. “I would like to thank the Turkish government very much for supporting me from start to finish.”
‘MY GOAL IS TO CREATE THE LAKE’
Dickey claimed that he tried not to despair in the cave and said:
“When you truly realize the situation, you can say, ‘Yes, I’m going to die,’ but I still didn’t despair. I will continue exploring caves. I would love to enter the Morca Cave again. My goal is to get back in and complete the exploration I left unfinished. When you go down 1000 meters, there is an underground lake. We cross that lake and dive to discover what is on the other side. We go down and up. My goal is to cross that lake. Last year I climbed 100 meters. My goal was to surpass it this year. My goal is to cross the lake.” (AA)
