Record coca production in Colombia

According to the report from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), coca production in Colombia increased by 13 percent in 2022 compared to 2021, reaching 230 thousand hectares. The report indicates that coca production, which was 204 thousand hectares in 2021, increased by 26 thousand hectares in 2022, and notes: “For the second consecutive year, coca cultivation in Colombia increased to the highest level in history.” The statement was included.
The report noted that the potential production of cocaine hydrochloride was 1,400 tons in 2021 and was stated to increase by 24 percent to 1,738 tons in 2022. The report emphasized that coca crops have increased alarmingly in the Putumayo region , on the border between Peru and Ecuador, and stated that the armed groups present in the region keep this under control.
