The bodies of more than 2,000 people who lost their lives in the city of Derna due to the flood that hit eastern Libya were buried.

Tariq al-Harraz, spokesman for the government’s Interior Ministry, appointed by the House of Representatives in the east of the country, said: “The number of people buried in the city of Derne reached 2,090, of which 1,100 were buried without being identified.” saying.

Regarding the missing people in Derne, Harraz stated that in addition to the missing people who have not yet been reported, there are official missing persons requests for 2 thousand people.

Spokesman Harraz stated that 35 of those reported missing were Egyptians and that the bodies of 151 Sudanese citizens were also buried.

Storm “Daniel”, which hit the central Mediterranean and hit eastern Libya on September 10, caused flooding in the cities of Benghazi, Beyda, Marj, Suse and Derna.

Libya’s Government of National Unity announced that 6,000 people died and thousands were missing in the flood disaster.
