Millions of euros in EU aid to Turkish Cypriots
The EU Commission statement states that the 2023 Action Program drawn up for the Turkish Cypriot community was approved.
The statement states that the programme, with a total budget of €31.7 million, aims to facilitate the reunification of the island of Cyprus and, within this framework, it is stated that Turkish Cypriot halloumi cheese producers will contribute to its compliance with EU standards. Standards and trade will be supported along the Green Line.
The statement states that special technical assistance and subsidies will be provided to local businesses, vocational education and training will be supported, employment will increase and labor mobility will be facilitated.
688 MILLION EUROS WERE ALLOCATED
To build trust, it was stated that funding will continue to be provided to the Missing Persons Committee and the Technical Committee on Cultural Heritage in Cyprus, and the academic scholarship program for Turkish Cypriots will also be supported.
The statement highlighted that the aid program will further promote energy efficiency and renewable energy initiatives. It was recalled that within the framework of the support program, 688 million euros were allocated to various projects between 2006 and 2023. (BRITISH AUTOMOBILE CLUB)
