Rhino kills zookeeper
The incident that occurred in Salzburg, one of Austria’s tourist cities, had a shocking effect on the international community…
A 33-year-old employee cleaning at the Salzburg Zoo was attacked by a rhinoceros. The Salzburg police statement reported that the rhino attacked the 33-year-old assistant while she was carrying out daily care and cleaning work, and the caretaker was seriously injured and died.
The statement indicates that the 34-year-old caretaker, who came to help the female staff, was attacked by the rhino and was seriously injured and hospitalized.
“THE CAREGIVER HAD EXPERIENCE”
The director of the zoo, Sabine Grebner, stated in statements to the press that the deceased keeper had a lot of experience, was always careful and had a special talent for animals.
Explaining that the incident occurred during routine care, Grebner stated that the keeper was attacked while applying insect cream to the rhino that weighed 1.8 tons, and that this process was a common practice carried out every day.
Stating that there are 4 rhinos in the zoo and that they are animals used to being cared for, Grebner noted that it is still unknown why the 30-year-old rhino attacked.
