Bloody attack on the market: at least 43 dead
According to the Sudanese Doctors Union statement, 43 people were killed and at least 55 injured in the airstrike on Goro market.
While the Sudanese military claimed that HDK had carried out the attack, HDK held the army responsible.
Clashes between the army and HDK in Sudan began on September 6, following army commander General Abdulfettah al-Burhan’s decision to disband the HDK.
The tension peaked when the army wanted the HDK, which it once supported but saw as a threat because it acted as an independent and parallel army, to be fully integrated into the army within two years, and announced that the HDK could accept this. in a period spanning approximately 10 years after civil government.
The tension, which led to armed conflict in the capital Khartoum and several cities on the morning of April 15, led to violent clashes in and around Khartoum, especially in western cities.
During the conflicts, more than 3,000 people, mostly civilians, lost their lives and tens of thousands were injured. The United Nations reports that more than 4.3 million people have been displaced by the conflict in Sudan. (AA)
