‘Strip search’ reaction to Israel
Dozens of Palestinian women gathered in front of the United Nations (UN) building in the Gaza Strip at the call of the Palestinian NGO Network and expressed their reactions against Israel’s imposition of a “strip search.”
At the press conference held on the sidelines of the protest, Meryem Zekkut, president of the NGO women’s network in Gaza, said: “The incident of stripping five threatened women in Hebron is part of the current tension against people in all levels.” she said.
Emphasizing that Israel violated all international norms and conventions under the shadow of silence from the international community, Zekkut stated that the imposition of the strip search in question was “a violation of all moral and humanitarian norms and values, including the laws that stipulate the sanctity of homes.” and the protection of women and children in armed conflict.”
RAID OF SOLDIERS WITH DOGS
The Israeli human rights organization B’Tselem, in its report on the incident in which the strip search took place, stated that “around 1:30 p.m. on July 10, many soldiers with dogs raided the house of the Acluni family in the Halle Kubbe district of the city of Hebron.”
It was recorded that the soldiers took 26 people from the same family to an apartment building at gunpoint, handcuffed and took away 3 people, including a 17-year-old boy.
The Israeli soldiers separated the women and children from the men, took them to the living room of the house and searched them.
THEY THREATENED WITH DOGS
Two masked Israeli soldiers, who took one of the women to the room where her children were, threatened the woman in front of her children that they would “set the dogs on her if she did not undress.” , while she was taking the children to the living room, one of them strip-searched three 17-year-old women.
