US reaction to Koran provocation

The US State Department Spokesperson’s Office issued a written statement regarding the attack on the holy book in front of Turkevi. The statement stated that the United States views freedom of expression as an element of democracy and the lack of respect for sacred texts was described as “disgusting.”

The statement stated that the details of the incident were not followed up and that no comment would be made on the matter, and that the United States condemned acts of hate and that such acts could harm people.

In the statement, which reiterated concerns previously expressed by the United States regarding attacks on the Holy Quran, US President Joe Biden’s statement in May said: “Countering Islamophobia is a priority for my administration.” “It is essential to oppose anti-Muslim hatred as a country founded on freedom and justice for all.” Reference was made to his words.

The statement also stated that efforts should be made to create a more “inclusive” environment for minority religious groups and called for a “peaceful and open dialogue” on the issue of attacks on the Holy Quran.

A person who approached the Turkish Consulate General in New York threw the Holy Quran he was holding to the ground and attacked him with a kick. Turkish House security guards intervened and removed this person from the front of the building. (AA)
