They capture a former soldier who escaped from prison in England
Former soldier suspected of terrorism Daniel Abid Khalifa, who escaped from Wandsworth prison in London, England’s capital, on Wednesday morning, has been captured.
According to the BBC, a statement from the London Police Department announced that Khalifa was captured in the Chiswick region, west of the capital. In the previous statement by the police officers it was stated that they received confirmed information that Khalifa was seen in the region at night.
Eyewitnesses said police helicopters searched the area throughout the night on Friday.
THOUSANDS OF POLICE WERE ALARMED
Police are investigating the possibility that Khalifa received help from prison staff. London Police Chief Mark Rowley said Khalifa’s escape was “well planned” and a “very worrying” development.
The country’s airports and seaports were alerted to find Khalifa, 21, who escaped by tying himself under a truck supplying the prison.
Khalifa, who joined the British Army in 2019, was arrested and sent to prison in January on charges of “preparation of a terrorist act” and “gathering information for Iran”, and denied all allegations at his July hearing.
