King Charles commemorates his mother in a special ceremony
King Charles commemorated his mother in the private church on the anniversary of her death. As the royals attend the ceremony near Balmoral, the Queen is commemorated with gun salutes and monastic bells.
As gun salutes and cloister bells mark the anniversary of Charles’ accession elsewhere, Charles and Queen Camilla will be in their Scottish retreat and will attend special memorial services at Crathie Church, near Balmoral Castle.
It will be a special day of reflection for the couple, who spend their traditional summer vacation with a small number of guests at their Aberdeenshire home.
Visiting West Wales, the Prince and Princess of Wales will commemorate the Queen’s life in a small private ceremony at St Davids Cathedral.
In his anniversary message, King Charles wrote: “As we celebrate the death and first anniversary of His late Majesty’s death and my accession to the throne, we fondly remember his long life, his faithful service and what he meant to so many of us. we. I am also deeply grateful for the love and support shown to my wife and me this year as we do our best to serve you all.”
The bells of Westminster Abbey will ring from 1:00 p.m. on the first anniversary of the King’s accession to the throne. Gun salutes will traditionally take place on the anniversary of the monarch’s accession, including at the Tower of London, Hyde Park, Edinburgh Castle and Hillsborough Castle.
Britain’s longest-serving monarch died peacefully at the age of 96 in Balmoral, Scotland, on September 8 last year, after reigning for 70 years.
