US announces new military aid package for Ukraine
The Pentagon has claimed that the new aid package it announced will provide the weapons and ammunition Ukraine needs in its war against Russia.
Within the framework of the package, air defense systems, artillery shells, electronic warfare vehicles, munitions of destruction and mine clearance equipment will be supplied to Ukraine.
In addition, within the scope of the package, support will be provided to Ukraine for training and maintenance activities.
The package increased the total amount of military aid given to Ukraine to $7.6 billion.
The day before the package was announced, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken visited Ukraine and pledged $1 billion in new aid to the country.
Blinken, in a statement during his visit, said Ukraine has made significant progress in its war against Russia in recent weeks.
“Ukraine continues to push Russia to the east,” Blinken said. “This is a demonstration of Ukraine’s courage and determination,” he said. (AA)
