Stoltenberg: Ukrainians are recovering from the war
In his speech at the European Parliament, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg stated that Ukraine is gradually recovering on the battlefield.
Stoltenberg stressed that the military and financial support provided by NATO countries to Ukraine strengthens Ukraine’s resistance and helps the invading Russian army to deal heavy blows.
“The Ukrainians managed to break through the defensive lines of the Russian forces and continue to advance,” Stoltenberg said. “This shows how important NATO’s support for Ukraine is,” he said.
Stoltenberg also claimed that Russian President Vladimir Putin made two big mistakes with his invasion of Ukraine. According to Stoltenberg, Putin, firstly, underestimated Ukraine’s resistance, and secondly, did not take into account NATO’s determination to support Ukraine.
Stoltenberg said Putin intended to expand NATO’s eastern borders with the war, but the opposite happened. “Putin strengthened NATO’s eastern flank and encouraged Finland and Sweden to join the alliance,” Stoltenberg said.
