New accusation against Trump!
Manhattan District Court Judge Lewis Kaplan said that in the new case brought by Carroll, the jury will only decide how much compensation Trump will pay.
Kaplan noted that the verdict of the jury that found Trump guilty in the rape and defamation case earlier this year is continuing, and that hearings to determine the amount of compensation will begin on January 15, 2024.
Carroll is seeking an additional $10 million in “damages” on top of the $5 million he won after Trump was found guilty of rape and defamation in May.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Former President Trump was found guilty by a jury after two weeks of hearings in May in the “rape and defamation” case brought by the tabloid Carroll, 79.
The jury found that Trump should pay Carroll $2 million for sexual harassment and assault, and $3 million for defamation, for a total of $5 million in damages.
After his first legal victory, Carroll filed a second lawsuit for “damages” against Trump, while Trump’s defamation lawsuit against Carroll was not accepted by the judge on August 8.
Carroll announced in 2019 that Trump raped her in the dressing room of the Bergdorf Goodman store in New York in the spring of 1996, while Trump denied the allegations. (AA)
