Stay away from the Nobel Foundation
The Nobel Foundation backtracked on its decision to “invite” the ambassadors of Russia, Belarus and Iran to the Nobel Prize ceremony in Stockholm. The ambassadors of these countries will not be invited to the ceremony, as happened last year.
In the communiqué made today by the Nobel Foundation on the subject, the following statements were made;
The Nobel Foundation’s decision to invite all ambassadors to the Nobel Prize ceremony, following past practice, provoked strong reactions.
The basis for the decision was our conviction that it was important and right to make the values and messages represented by the Nobel Prize reach as wide an audience as possible.
EVERYONE IS INVITED TO THE CEREMONY ONLY IN OSLO
We are aware of the strong reaction in Sweden which completely overshadows this message. For this reason, the board of directors of the Nobel Foundation decided to repeat last year’s usual exception: not to invite the ambassadors of Russia, Belarus and Iran to the Nobel Prize ceremony in Stockholm.
As before, all ambassadors will be invited to the ceremony in Oslo.
The Nobel prizes are awarded to their winners at a ceremony held in Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, after their announcement. The person or persons who win the Nobel Peace Prize receive their awards at a ceremony in Oslo, the capital of Norway. Last year, the ambassadors of these three countries were not invited to the ceremony in Stockholm due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. (DHA)
