Dead railway workers struck by a train in Italy
According to Italian press reports, a train ran over workers carrying out maintenance work on the line near the Brandizzo station of the Turin-Milan railway line. 5 workers were reported to have lost their lives in the incident.
It was indicated that the accident occurred when the railway workers began the maintenance and renewal work on the tracks on platform 1 and it was determined that the train was traveling at 160 kilometers per hour at the time of the incident.
It was reported that the Ivrea Prosecutor’s Office, which launched an investigation into the accident, is investigating how the incident occurred and that the driver of the train that ran over the workers will also be questioned. The train that hit the workers after the accident was reported to have been kept on the line for crime scene investigation, thus suburban services on the Turin-Milan line were suspended.
