Tensions between the United States and Israel

The Israeli Minister made assessments to the Israeli Army Radio about the criticism directed by the administration of Washington to the Israeli government for the violations against the Palestinians.

The leader of the far-right Religious Zionism party, Smotrich, reacted with strong words to the US administration’s condemnation statement against the racist comments of the far-right Israeli Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben-Gvir, towards the Palestinians.

“WE ARE ALL FROM TWO FACTORIES”

Referring to the violations committed by the United States in the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq, Smotrich said: “Anyone who attacks us in the world is a hypocrite.” saying.

“I’m not going to talk about the Americans and what they’ve been doing in Afghanistan and Iraq,” Smotrich said. They cannot teach us morality or human rights. This is hypocrisy that cannot be ignored.” I used the phrases.

“WE DO NOT COMMIT”

On the other hand, Smotrich also spoke about the US-mediated normalization negotiations between Israel and Saudi Arabia.

Smotrich argued that Israel-Saudi Arabia “will not accept any concessions to the Palestinians as part of the deal.”

It was claimed that the US administration had conveyed to the Israeli authorities that Israel should make serious concessions in favor of the Palestinians for a future normalization agreement with Saudi Arabia.

Smotrich is one of the partners in the coalition led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and has a decisive role in Israel’s policies in the occupied West Bank.

Ben-Gvir, known for his racist rhetoric and provocative actions against Palestinians, spoke on Israeli television Channel 12 on August 24, arguing that freedom of movement for Jews was more important than freedom for Palestinians.

While journalists and non-governmental organizations reacted to Ben-Gvir’s remarks on social media, there were also statements of condemnation from the United States and the European Union.

The US State Department condemned Secretary Ben-Gvir’s remarks as “provocative” and “akin to racist rhetoric.” (AA)
